Chunk Claiming Guide

Chunk Claiming Guide

Welcome to the server! To ensure your builds, items, and Pokémon are safe from griefing or theft, our server uses a custom Chunk Claiming system.

When you claim a "chunk" (a 16x16 block area from the bottom of the world to the sky), you have absolute control over who can build, break blocks, or interact with things inside it.

How to Claim Your First Chunk

  1. Find your spot: Walk to the area you want to protect.
  2. Check the owner: Look at the text above your hotbar. As you walk around, it will either say Wilderness (meaning it's unclaimed) or show the name of the player who owns it.
  3. Claim it: Type /cclaim in chat and press enter.
  4. Confirm (if required): If claiming costs money on our server, you will receive a warning telling you the price. Simply type /cclaim one more time to confirm your purchase.

To unclaim a chunk you no longer want, stand inside it and type /cclaim unclaim.

Viewing Claims (Chunk Borders)

Sometimes it is hard to tell exactly where a chunk begins and ends. You can easily view claim borders by typing: /cclaim show

This will surround the chunk you are standing in with colored particles:

  • 🟩 Green Particles: The chunk is unclaimed (Wilderness).
  • 🟨 Yellow Particles: This is your claimed chunk.
  • 🟦 Blue Particles: This chunk belongs to another player.
  • 🟪 Purple Particles: This is a protected Server/Admin claim.

Type /cclaim show again to turn the particles off.

Adding Friends (Allies)

If you are playing with friends, you will want to add them as an Ally so they can build and interact with your base.

  • Add a friend: /cclaim ally <playername> add
  • Remove a friend: /cclaim ally <playername> remove
  • See your friends list: /cclaim ally list

Note: Adding someone as an ally applies to ALL chunks you own.

Managing Permissions

By default, only you can build, break, or interact with things in your claim. However, you can heavily customize this for your Allies or even the general Public!

1. Broad Permissions (Affects all your chunks)

You can grant specific rights to either your ally list or the public.

Command format: /cclaim allow <ally/public> <permission> <on/off>

Available Permissions:

  • block-use (Opening chests, using doors, buttons, crafting tables, etc.)
  • block-break (Breaking blocks)
  • block-place (Placing blocks)
  • entity-interact (Trading with villagers, using items on Pokémon, etc.)
  • entity-attack (Damaging mobs/animals)

Example: You want to let random strangers press buttons and open doors in your town. You would type: /cclaim allow public block-use on

2. Specific Block/Entity Permissions (Advanced)

What if you want to keep your base entirely private, but you have one specific chest or one specific villager you want people to be able to use? You can use Selection Mode.

  1. Type /cclaim allow select to turn on selection mode.
  2. Right-click the specific blocks (like a chest) or entities (like a villager) you want to select. You can click multiple things! The chat will confirm your selections.
  3. Apply the permission. For example, to allow people to use the block you just clicked, type: /cclaim allow block block-use on
  4. Type /cclaim allow select again to turn off selection mode.

Limitations & Things to Keep in Mind

  • Claim Limits: You have a maximum amount of chunks you can claim. Use /cclaim info to see your current limit.
  • Costs: Depending on the server economy, claiming a chunk may cost money. If you unclaim a chunk, you do not get a refund.
  • Item Whitelists: Some highly specific items might be configured by server admins to bypass claim protections globally (for example, reading a rule book).
  • Self-Defense: Even in a claimed chunk where entity-attack is turned off, you are always allowed to attack hostile mobs (like Zombies or Creepers) to defend yourself.
